Attention, class! Anchor sponsor Atlas Games wants to enroll you in Mad Scientist University, the card game of evil genius, insane assignments, and unstable elements. Act now, Ken and Robin listeners, and they’ll throw in the Spring Break expansion set for free. Shipping within the US is also free. Ken fans who did not partake of the Kickstarter can now sink their fangs into the general release of the Dracula Dossier from Pelgrane Press, consisting of the Director’s Handbook and Dracula Unredacted. You say that’s still not enough Ken for you? Very well, my friend. His brilliant pieces on parasitic gaming, alternate Newtons, Dacian werewolves and more now lurk among the sparkling bounty of The Best of FENIX Volumes 1-3, from returning sponsors Askfageln. Yes, it’s Sweden’s favorite RPG magazine, now beautifully collected. Warning: not in Swedish. Attention, operatives of Delta Green, the ultra-covert agency charged with battling the contemporary forces of the Cthulhu Mythos! Now everything you need to know to play Delta Green: The Roleplaying Game, perhaps extending your valiantly short field life, can be found in the Delta Green Agent’s Handbook.

  1. Two things about the Turkey segment:

    1) Izmir is the Turkish name for Smyrna, not Ephesus.

    2) How can you talk about gaming in the post WW1 occupation and not mention the classic Call of Cthulhu campaign “Horror on the Orient Express”? The entire Constantinole segment is set during the final days of the occupation.

  2. Mark Mohrfield says:

I’ve got to dispute that people don’t throw up when they’re very upset; I’ve done so myself.

    • Tom Vallejos says:

A friend of mine had a similar experience back in high school. His mom showed up at a fast food place when he was trying to hit on girl she did not approve.

  3. Niclas Matikainen says:

Having been the victim of a burglary, I can say for certain that it’s possible to not only sit right up when you wake up, but also to leap straight out of bed because you are convinced that the burglars are back in you appartment.
With the burglary having happened more than ten years ago, this isn’t common for me any more, but it still happens…

Regarding the slap to the face: It might not calm you down, but it might activate you fight or flight mode, and thus make you more focused. At least according to the Mythbusters. SCIENCE! 😛

  4. Kit Kendrick says:

I used to live in the same neighborhood as the “Westfield Watcher” house. The house also happens to be along one of the routes that a lot of kids walk to the high school. That was my first thought when I heard about over the top horror letters getting mysteriously delivered.

If you wanted to go a more lighthearted route, Westfield was also the home of Charles Addams, who drew the original Addams Family cartoons and based the illustrations of their house on one of the houses there.

  5. Tom Vallejos says:

One stock moment that you missed is the one where the victim is really alive. The actual victim is either the would be killer, or a lookalike. Sometimes lookalike is an actual twin.
