Episode 290: Leaves Don’t Work on PayPal

April 27th, 2018 | Robin

In the Gaming Hut we cover ways to design monsters to star in investigative scenarios.

We tromp into the Command Hut at the behest of Patreon backer Thomas Vallejos, who wants to know the deep secrets behind a proposal to revive the US Army’s iconic WWII-era uniform style.

In Ask Ken and Robin, backer Daniel Krauklis asks about writing scenarios featuring underrepresented groups.

Finally, hold onto your library cards as, thanks to a query from backer Michael Parker, the Consulting Occultist investigates the theft of an Isaac Newton manuscript from the Carnegie Rare Books room.

  1. Michael Cule says:

The reason for the change in the US Army uniforms is indeed an attempt to warp time back to WWII.

But the reason is so that once again the US can be on the same side as the Russians.

  2. Steve Dempsey says:

You can read Newton’s papers online here: http://www.newtonproject.ox.ac.uk/texts/newtons-works/alchemical

Some of his papers were indeed owned by Keynes, but the history is rather more complicated (and something I’ve covered in Fearful Symmetries):

You can also see the correspondence between Keynes and various booksellers, including bills of sale. A nice handout for bookhounds:

  3. Lee Williams says:

General question – given how much entertainment value the show got out of the late Rob Ford, will you be treating his brother’s career in a similar manner? After all, it already appears that older doesn’t always mean smarter…

  4. Thomas Vallejos says:

Thanks Ken and Robin for answering my question. I did not expect that new hut needed to be established to answer it.
