Episode 213: I Would Have Been On the Other Side of That

October 21st, 2016 | Robin

A fork in the road leads to either the Gaming Hut, or the Gaming Hut, as we look at those times when giving players choice and control in a scenario leads to a less interesting outcome.

The History Hut has us looking at the career of oil magnate E.L. Doheny, key figure in the Teapot Dome scandal and partial inspiration for Daniel Plainview in There Might Be Blood.

Then Ken and/or Robin Talk To Somebody Else, specifically Epidiah Ravachol of Dread and Worlds Without Master fame.

We conclude with the Consulting Occultist talking about Jakob Böhme, trying to convince Robin that there is something of interest to be gleaned from yet another Christian mystic.

  1. Sam says:

I know Ken has been on Blurry Photos, but Robin really seems to have embraced their style in the last segment.

  2. Thank you. I promise no more Christian Mystic cobbler questions in the future. 🙂

  3. (Also, the album that prompted the question was Black Autumn’s ”
Aurora – Morgen Rothe Im Auffgang” ( which I’m starting to believe is more interesting than the book itself. 🙂

  4. I’m running a few weeks behind on KARTAS and just listened to this one. There’s another obvious storyhook in E.L. Doheny’s life and career, to wit the nature of what obscene catastrophe his drillers discovered miles beneath the surface of America’s national parks, the thing that his wife burned his records to conceal. BEYOND THE TEAPOT OF MADNESS awaits us.
