Episode 120: Live from Dragonmeet 2014
December 19th, 2014 | Robin
Just like sugar plums and figgy pudding, the annual live podcast from London’s Dragonmeet is here to warn us that December holds us in its thrall. Ken nerdtropes Genghis Khan and alien artefacts. Robin ups the ante on the tradition of live episode f-bombs. We contemplate Sigil’s thorniest immigration issues. And we tell you what the most expendable character type is.
Which brings our podcast to a close for another year. Have a happy and safe holiday of your choice. We’ll be back on January 2nd with another episode packed with mystery, gaming, surrealism, and of course the results of Ken’s annual London book buying spree.
Attention, class! Anchor sponsor Atlas Games wants to enroll you in Mad Scientist University, the card game of evil genius, insane assignments, and unstable elements. Act now, Ken and Robin listeners, and they’ll throw in the Spring Break expansion set for free. Shipping within the US is also free.
Then follow the esoteric clues to the Kickstarter for Weird Detective: the Tabletop Roleplaying Game. Grab the PDF corebook for a mere five bucks, piling on additional goodies as your fear-constricted heart desires.

Can you please talk about this

Here’s an Ask Ken and Robin: In most of the comments you make about the experience of playtesting, you are clearly talking about the experience of running the game as a DM/MC/Keeper/whatever. When you’re playtesting a new system, how much do you try to experience the project from the other side of the screen–hand it off to someone and enter the game as a player?
When the Consulting Occultist returns from Paris, perhaps he could give us his take on Julian Jaynes and the ‘bicameral mind’ thesis?
Greetings! I’ve been follopwing your website for some time now and
finally got the bravery to go ahed and give you a
shout out from Atascocita Texas! Just wanted to say keep up the excellent
job!
Great material as always 🙂
I also have a question about the occult… I’d like to know a bit more about the “akashic record”, if you got some time for it. Thanks!
What a great podcast. Sorry I missed Dragonmeet.
I have a suggestion for something to talk about that combines the Food Hut and Ken’s Time Machine: what recipes can you suggest from alternate timelines?
How could Ken change history to make the perfect cuisine?
I remember having very little in the cupboard and making chilli con carne with borlotti beans. I explained to my flatmate that it was “from an alternate universe in which Giovanni Caboto discovered Mexico and opened a Venetian restaurant”.

Hi Ken and Robin,
Thank you for your advice about my forthcoming Sigil PD game. I feel very honoured to have had your input. I posted about this on my blog:
Ken & Robin Talk about Sigil PD
All the best

I love this podcast generally, but the live talks have their ups and downs. I’m afraid the microphone used for the people to ask questions with didn’t work very well – the answers were generally interesting, but I had to figure out what the question probably was based on the answer.
Better luck next time!
