Episode 170: Deprived of Moss

December 11th, 2015 | Robin

What should you look for when revising a scenario? The Gaming Hut holds the answers.

Cinematic technique, legacy and mortality all come out to play in the darkened space of the Cinema Hut as we delve into Robin’s powerful response to the documentary Hitchcock/Truffaut.

Then Ken and Robin Recycle Audio, specifically more clips from Robin’s Q&A at FanExpo in Toronto.

Men in black peer into the windows of the Eliptony Hut as we round up the career of sardonic Fortean investigator John A. Keel.

Ken and Robin have oft been accused of being cards. Well, we can deny it no longer. We have become super-limited promo cards for Murder of Crows, Atlas Games’ fast-paced card game of murder and the macabre, for two to five players in the mood for something a little morbid. It’s Edward Gorey meets Caligari, by way of Edgar Allan Poe. Wait a minute, what does that graphic say? I’m not so sure about this…

Ken fans who did not partake of the Kickstarter can now sink their fangs into the general release of the Dracula Dossier from Pelgrane Press, consisting of the Director’s Handbook and Dracula Unredacted. You say that’s still not enough Ken for you? Very well, my friend. His brilliant pieces on parasitic gaming, alternate Newtons, Dacian werewolves and more now lurk among the sparkling bounty of The Best of FENIX Volumes 1-3, from returning sponsors Askfageln. Yes, it’s Sweden’s favorite RPG magazine, now beautifully collected. Warning: not in Swedish. In a move that surely violates someone’s security clearance, this episode is also brought to you by our friends at Arc Dream Publishing. The Kickstarter for Delta Green: the Roleplaying Game has come to an end, but don’t let that stop you from indulging your fever for this classic game, or that pinnacle of the Cthulhu game zine world, The Unspeakable Oath.

  1. Jozan says:

What about the two non-horrifically inhuman deities in Cthulhu Mythos, Bast and Nodens? (and some Dreamlands gods but they don’t count) How would you make them horrifically inhuman instead of “just hanging around humanity” inhuman?

  2. Gnucifer says:

Hite’s Deep One voice and accent is glorious

  3. Grawflemaul says:

Alright, now I really want to hear your thoughts on SPECTRE. Can we get it in a lightning round, maybe?

  4. Justin says:

I can’t seem to find the link for the Murder of Crows game. I see the picture but it’s not a link. Where do I find it.

  5. Chaosclockwork says:

Setting aside the weaknesses of the two most recent Bond movies, do James Bond stories just ‘work’ less well the further out from the Cold War we become? (Or, at least, is he incompatible with the current espionage paradigm?)
